Master Naturalist Workday – Chinquapin Bluffs Hill Prairie

October 17, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Register here

Illinois Master Naturalists – join us for TWO unique opportunities wrapped up into one workday on Saturday, October 17th from 9am-12pm.

First, we will be removing woody brush (primarily redbud) from the remnant hill prairie on the north side of Chinquapin Bluffs Land & Water Reserve.  This bluff is one of ParkLands’ most picturesque locations, rising more than 100′ above the river and supporting several unique plant species.

Secondly, we are very excited to be joined by partners from the Friends of Illinois Nature Preserves.  Matt Evans, a well-versed botanist and conservationist from the Northwestern University graduate program, will share his extensive knowledge about the hill prairie’s plant species before we work.

Directions from north Normal to the northeast gate of Chinquapin Bluffs (please note, this gate is not normally used for public access):

To comply with the Extension’s COVID-19 guidelines, this workday is open to Illinois Master Naturalists only.

Don’t miss one of our last workdays of the year!
