Weston Cemetery
Overview
Weston Cemetery Prairie Nature Preserve offers a glimpse of one of the few remaining remnants of true virgin prairie, untouched by the plow and chock-full of the stunning plant diversity that once blanketed Illinois’ 22 million-acre Grand Prairie.
Features
- 5 acres
- State designation as an Illinois Nature Preserve
Access
The preserve is located 0.5 miles east of Weston, IL in northeast McLean County. A small sign along U.S. Route 24 marks the grass lane leading north to a small parking area in the southeast corner of the preserve.
The preserve is open to the public, though with no trails and little infrastructure it cannot sustain heavy traffic. Please take extra care to avoid stepping on sensitive vegetation and to respect the gravesites.
