A Little Celebration on the Prairie

Join us at Letcher Basin on October 1st for a Prairie Celebration. No need to RSVP this is an open house style event. Please see event details below including a tentative schedule beneath the flyer.

10:00 – Hiking & Bird Watching

Bring your binoculars and hiking sticks! We will start off the day with Dr. Given Harper as he shares his expertise about the birds that live in or visit Letcher Basin. Then two of our Volunteer Stewards, Mary Jo Adams and Sherrie Snyder, will lead a hike exploring the basin.

All Day – Plein air Artists

View artists at work painting their interpretations of Letcher’s prairie.  Deana Schoolcraft, Peg Schickedanz, Dale Evans, Phil Smith

Noon – Bring your picnic lunch and spend the day with us!

Ken Kashian shares his project of Weston Cemetery.

Jan Turner shares her experiences at Horn Preserve.

1:30 – Bee Identification and Exploration

Dr. Ben Sadd and friends explore the prairie with us looking for bumble bees and other insects.

2:30 – Afternoon Trailer Ride

Enjoy a fall ride around Letcher basin as you hear stories about Lincoln and learn new things about bald eagles. Guy Fraker & Mary Jo Adams

3:00 – 3:45 – Family Photos on the Prairie by Katelynn Baer Photography

4:00 – Campfire, Smores, and Music
