Directions from the South
- Take I-55 North to the Towanda exit (171).
- At the top of the ramp turn left (North) on McLean County Highway 29.
- Continue North approximately 2-1/2 miles until you reach the “T” intersection.
- At the “T” intersection, turn right (East).
- After crossing the Money Creek bridge, turn left (North) on Hwy. 29.
- Continue North on Hwy. 29 for 3-1/2 miles until you come to the 4-way stop at the intersection of Hwy. 29 and Hwy. 8 (Lake Bloomington Road).
- At the stop sign continue North on Hwy. 29.
- While driving North, you will see the Merwin Nature Preserve prairie restoration area to your right.
- FOR THE WEST GATE → the gate will be on your right after the bridge
- FOR THE NORTH GATE → continue until the next four-way intersection and take a right onto County Rd 2650N.
- Continue straight, the parking lot will be on your right
East
Directions from the East
- Take I-74 West to the Downs exit (142).
- Turn right onto E 700 North Road/County Rd 700N (continue onto Seminary St).
- Turn left onto US-150W.
- Turn right onto County Road 1900E/ S Towanda Barnes Rd.
- In Towanda, turn left (north) onto S Jefferson St. Continue onto N 1900 East Rd.
- At the “T” intersection, turn right (East) onto County Rd. 2200N.
- After crossing the Money Creek bridge, turn left (North) on County Hwy. 29/N 1950 East Rd.
- Continue North on Hwy. 29 for 3-1/2 miles until you come to the 4-way stop at the intersection of Hwy. 29 and Hwy. 8 (Lake Bloomington Road).
- At the stop sign continue North on Hwy. 29.
- While driving North, you will see the Merwin Nature Preserve prairie restoration area to your right.
- FOR THE WEST GATE → the gate will be on your right after the bridge
- FOR THE NORTH GATE → continue until the next four-way intersection and take a right onto County Rd 2650N
- Continue straight, the parking lot will be on your right
